The Akron on Deck III playing card set features 54 Akron, Ohio landmarks and icons with cards by 54 local artists. In 2025, Akron celebrates its 200th birthday. Akron on Deck is a unique way to honor the city’s history and culture.

 

About Don Peoples’ card design:

During the mid-20th century, Howard Street was the epicenter of Akron's African American culture. Also known as “Little Harlem,” the neighborhood was home to cafés, bars, hotels, and other black-owned businesses. Set in the 1940s, a couple dances to the tunes of jazz musicians. Beneath them is a list of gone but not forgotten Howard Street establishments.
